Community Action

The issues that indigenous peoples face are systemic, so change needs to start within communities by empowering residents from the ground up.

Communities know best the challenges they face and they are the best conduits for change and positive progress. Faith gets the best results when she works directly with community members to identify issues, then develop approaches that equip them with resources to make informed decisions.

Communities need to be empowered with the tools to reach their own solutions.

Opportunities to engage

Working with Elders:

  • Building relationships and preventing isolation through holiday dinners and special gatherings.
  • Collecting and distributing food, coats, and household goods.

Working with Schools:

  • Organizing backpack, school supplies, and book drives.

Working with Colleges:

  • Creating opportunity for students to pursue and afford higher education.
  • Collaborating with higher education institutions:
    • Dine College: Faith created a successful fundraising campaign to raise scholarship money with the goal of students graduating debt-free.

    • Ft. Lewis College (alma mater): Faith created ”Educators as Leaders Scholarship” for those pursuing a Master’s in Education and who will return to reservation schools.
